A modern HR platform for growing, culture focused companies, known as bob
HiBob, known to its users simply as bob, is the HR platform for the modern, culture focused growing company. It has built a strong following among fast growing technology and professional services firms that want an HR system which feels contemporary and puts engagement and culture on an equal footing with records and compliance. It is a deliberate contrast to the utilitarian older tools.
Design and engagement are the calling cards. bob is genuinely well designed, and the features around culture, communication and employee engagement are more developed than in most rivals. For a company that treats its culture as a competitive advantage, a platform that reinforces it rather than just administering leave is appealing.
The analytics and reporting are strong, giving people teams real data on headcount, attrition and engagement, which a growing company increasingly needs to show its board. Workforce planning and the people analytics are a step above the small business tools.
Flexibility is a theme. bob adapts to different structures and ways of working rather than imposing one, which suits companies with less conventional org designs.
Pricing is quoted and sits at the premium end, so bob is a considered purchase rather than an impulse one. A small business focused purely on leave and records will find it more platform, and more cost, than the job requires.
The breadth and flexibility mean setup and configuration take thought. Getting the most from bob is a project, and a company without the appetite to configure it well will underuse what it pays for.
Payroll is not the core, so UK payroll runs elsewhere and connects, which needs scoping.
HiBob serves UK businesses and handles UK employment needs, but as a global platform the UK statutory specifics, data residency and local compliance features are ones to confirm in a demo rather than assume. The strength is engagement, culture and analytics for a growing modern company, so the UK case is strongest for exactly that kind of business.
Fast growing, culture focused UK companies, typically in technology and professional services, that want a modern, design led HR platform with strong engagement and analytics and are happy to pay a premium. Smaller or more traditional businesses will be better served by Breathe, CharlieHR or Access PeopleHR.

It is a premium quoted price, not a small business tool, and more platform than a small team focused on leave needs. The people analytics give our board real headcount data, which is about the only positive.
Pros
The people analytics give our board real headcount data.
Cons
It is a premium quoted price, not a small business tool.

Adoption was high from day one because it looks modern. It flexed to our slightly unconventional org structure.

Cons
More platform than a small team focused on leave needs.

More platform than a small team focused on leave needs, and payroll runs elsewhere and connects. The engagement and culture features go beyond just admin, which is about the only positive.
Pros
The engagement and culture features go beyond just admin.
Cons
More platform than a small team focused on leave needs.
